Home quote prices turn downwards – Consumer Intelligence

The average quoted premiums for buildings and contents insurance fell by 1.1% in the three months to the end of July, according to research by Consumer Intelligence.

The experts revealed a month-on-month drop in prices from April to May, ending 19 consecutive months of increases.

After 19 months of sustained inflation, May 2024 finally saw some respite with prices decreasing slightly against April.

Despite the decline, the average quoted price of home insurance rose by 27.5% in the 12 months, the latest Consumer Intelligence Home Insurance Price Index showed.

This though was down on the record 41.6% surge in the 12 months to April.
