Market moves: Bubbling over

Men shaking hands

Only a broker living in a bubble would have failed to notice that the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (Biba) conference took place last month. And accordingly we start there with Biba unveiling a recruit to replace Steve White. But fear not – the trade body’s recently installed CEO has not departed, in fact Marsh’s David Sparkes will be stepping into the compliance chief role that Mr White left upon his promotion. Truth be told the conference was not a flurry of people job swapping with most providers instead preferring to unveil new products with which to tempt their broker partners.

It was not just beer, food and meetings for brokers to digest at the Biba conference in London. The trade body took the opportunity to reveal at its annual event that David Sparkes would be joining as its head of compliance. The position became vacant after the recent promotion of previous compliance chief Steve White to the CEO role. Mr Sparkes, senior technical advisor in Marsh’s compliance department, will come on board once he has completed his notice period.
