Broking market offers mixed reaction to Hodges' appointment
Mark Hodges’ move from Aviva to Towergate and his replacement by Trevor Matthews of Friends Life has been met with mixed reaction from brokers.
Towergate this week announced that Mr Hodges would take over from Andy Homer, who will move into a non-executive directorial role in the autumn.
However, the appointment of Friends Life chief Matthews has generated speculation over Aviva’s future strategy for general insurance which would see it place a greater focus on its life business.
Most brokers have taken the view that Towergate has pulled off a bit of a coup in Mr Hodges’ appointment. He is seen as a businessman with strong corporate
