RSA delivers good 2011 result but commercial continues to drag
RSA UK delivered £310m profit before tax on premiums of over £3bn in 2011 while turning in a combined operating ratio (COR) of 98.2%.
At group level, the insurer delivered a 38% increase in operating profit to £884m on net written premiums of £8.1bn for 2011.
The insurer also managed to improve its combined operating ratio by 2.5 points to 94.9%.
In the UK business, personal lines was the strong performer last year delivering a COR of 95.7% on premiums of £1.36bn.
Household was the strongest component turning an underwriting loss of £24m in 2010 into a profit of £57m last year.
Motor struggled with a COR of 100.7% breaking
