Bids for Groupama due in tomorrow

Bids for Groupama’s UK business are close to being tabled with Zurich, Axa and Allianz all in the frame according to reports.

The Independent on Sunday reported that Mike Lamb of Deutsche Bank, the person hired to oversee the sale, had found it difficult to find one bidder for all the firms under the Groupama brand including brokers Bollington, Lark and Carole Nash.

The UK chief executive Francois-Xavier Boisseau has said that a fire sale is not on the cards and that the sale of the company as a whole is the preferred option.

However, both Bollington and Lark are understood to be in advanced discussions with private

Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
