Motorplus landed with £7m legal claim by two law firms

MotorPlus has been hit with a multi-million claim for alleged non-payment and breach of contract by two law firms.

The legal expenses and add-on specialist - which trades as Norwich-based ULR Additions - was issued with a £7.67m bill by MTA Solicitors and its sister company MTA Corporate Solicitors, Insurance Age can reveal. 

The claims - which date back to November 2011 - are the result of Motorplus' alleged failure to meet its personal injury claims handling and personal injury family legal protection referral and contract commitments with MTA Solicitors.

Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
