ECIC unveils plant equipment cover

Provider targets market as confidence within construction industry rises.

The Electrical Contractors' Insurance Company (ECIC) has launched a product to cover theft of plant equipment, such as diggers and JCBs, used on building sites.

ECIC stated that the policy had been rolled out in response to renewed confidence in the construction sector.

The provider also cited recent premium rate rises in plant theft cover and claimed its new offering gave brokers and construction firms competitive cover in return for a full inventory of plant such as make, model, current value

Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
