Mergers and acquisitions are a driving force in the broking market,according to Commercial Union's 1998 Annual Broker Survey. The survey
reveals that 45% of the 815 brokers questioned expect to merge or acquire
another brokerage by 2001, a 5% increase since 1997.
In addition, 57% of brokerages with directors over the age of 50 admitted
they had no natural successor.
