The Association of British Insurers has welcomed the government'sproposal to introduce a compulsory scheme for the fitting of vehicle
immobilisers.
The controversial initiative has been designed to reduce car crime by 30%
over the next five years. Tony Baker, ABI's deputy director general, said:
"The ABI will be playing a full and active role in consultations to ensure
these proposals bring about firm measures to crack the car crime problem."
