Experts call on brokers to take action as climate change drives shift in flood risk
Flood insurance specialists have urged brokers to stay on top of how they can help clients as the number of natural catastrophe weather events in the UK continues to increase due to climate change. Ida Axling investigates.
The nature of flooding in the UK is changing, with torrential rain causing flash floods in areas that have not traditionally been considered at risk, as well as those with historic exposures.
However, in an article for Insurance Age published in June, Ian Gibbs, national technical manager at Sedgwick, highlighted that there had been limited traction on the funding available through government grants or the Build Back Better scheme.
